Short Film Update

Talking with my friend about ether shooting here in LA or San Francisco, in terms of cost, to film- get permits- and finding actors will be slightly cheaper and easier here, if we are to shoot in the bay area we’d need to at least kickstart some of the budget (about $5,000-$9,000.)

Why I like San Francisco so much as a primary location, is the architecture and the way light tends to fall in the later hours within the city, whereas LA tends to have at midday-late night, light that is either very flat or too over exposed.

I’m going to talk it over with the parental units and see what they say, as of now I’m aiming for a late August- early September window.

Trying to challenge myself into writing a “top films” list and hating every minute of it.

Here’s the semi current list as follows. (Without thousands of my notes in the corner)

1. Citizen Kane

2. Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back

3. Punch Drunk Love

4. Rear Window

5. The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou

Granted this is the one I went with after 10 moves of certain movies. But yeah, ESB is one of my favorites so deal with it.

Just started watching the extended cut of the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and holy shit, I never thought they could 1up the Swedish language version but from what I’ve seen so far it’s damn good.

Films & Tv- May 2012

Transformers Prime

Starship Troopers

Burma VJ

The Taqwacores

Everything Must Go

The Avengers

The Place Promised In Our Early Days

Jeff Who Lives At Home

I had been wanting to see Burma VJ for ages since it came out and wow, it did not disappoint one bit. Also, Avengers! What an awesome film, I haven’t enjoyed a movie this much since Inception and Stranger Than Fiction came out. Coincidentally, that was another great Will Ferrell role, a lot like EMG but still, dude is a master of the deadpan.

I’ve got more movies to watch this month and doing these lists is actually a really fun thing to do, so yeah this will be a permanent addition to le blog.
