If there were two favorite films from the past year I had to choose from I’d probably go with Looper/ Paranorman or The Avengers/ Django Unchained.

After college I’d love to get a job at Laika or Imaginary Forces, somewhere that playing in order to create great films would be essentially the DNA of our working environment.

You aren’t really encouraged to collaborate heavily in film school or half the time people are just ripping off ideas (like my last university), which makes the filmmaking process very solitary out of the need to protect one’s work/ ideas. Quite frankly that makes getting feedback a pain since the pool of people to share work in progress or completed is extremely small.

But, one good thing since moving to LA has been that the “collab pool” has been a huge help to me writing, directing and even working with actors.

Had an argument with this guy I know on fb about Django unchained being racist towards black people.

The film deals with slavery without whitewashing or toning it down to be sensitive, for which I applaud Tarantino for not shirking or trying to make an ugly part of history nice for nicety’s sake.

I love this film, because there’s a minority main character who like shaft or the small band of movie men like him takes his life back instead of blaming people for his issues and problems.

Furthermore, I’m Native American, I don’t get mad and fly off the chain every time I see a hipster white girl wearing a chieftain’s headdress so get over it and don’t see the fucking thing if you just want to crow and heckle about the fact that spike lee didn’t think to do this first.

Sometimes, I wish I could just take every person like this and launch them into the coldest darkest reaches of space.
